Photos: Governor Hochul Holds CUNY Roundtable on Free Community College Expansion

Earlier today, Governor Hochul held a roundtable discussion at City University of New York (CUNY) with Chancellor Félix V. Matos Rodríguez and Professional Staff Congress (PSC-CUNY) members to discuss their experiences with the CUNY Reconnect program, a free community college program allowing adult learners to earn a college degree and secure high-quality jobs. Earlier this month, Governor Hochul expanded the program to allow New Yorkers aged 25 to 55 to enroll in free high-demand associate degrees even if they already have a degree in a different field. Since Governor Hochul unveiled the program in 2025, CUNY Reconnect has already grown by 50 percent to 10,000 adult learners enrolled in CUNY this fall, allowing adult learners to access free tuition, fees, book and supplies and saving thousands of dollars per year.
