28th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum wraps up

(MENAFN) The 28th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF 2025) wrapped up on Saturday, concluding with more than 1,000 agreements signed, totaling 6.3 trillion rubles (approximately $80 billion). The event marked a significant boost in collaboration between Russian and international companies and institutions.

Delegates from over 140 countries participated in the forum, which featured more than 350 sessions, including 24 targeted business dialogues. Discussions addressed pressing economic issues, sustainable development, and evolving cooperation strategies in an increasingly multipolar global environment. Topics ranged from market instability and technological innovation to artificial intelligence regulation.

The main event was the plenary session, where Russian President Vladimir Putin and international leaders gave keynote addresses. Putin outlined Russia’s economic strategy, highlighted international cooperation, and emphasized the expanding influence of BRICS in the multipolar world order. He also held one-on-one meetings with several prominent foreign officials.

Organizers highlighted the forum’s youthful energy this year, with participants from over 220 universities and academic institutions.

The Kingdom of Bahrain served as the guest country for 2025, while Saudi Arabia has been announced as the honored nation for SPIEF 2026, according to forum executive and presidential aide Anton Kobyakov.
